A look back at 2016

So I find myself wide awake at 2.30am! Is it the caffeinated coffee I drank yesterday at 4.30pm or is it the mountain of ‘stuff’ I have going on in my head? Either way, having lain in bed for two hours unable to get back to sleep, I’ve decided to get up and write my blog…. Read More

Food at Disneyland Paris

I hope you’ve all had a lovely summer. As part of our hols this year we took our boys to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days – first time for them and us. We had a great time and even Mr H enjoyed himself! As the eternal foody I was interested to see what we could eat… Read More

No to Pokémon Go!

The summer holidays are here – hooray! My boys are now 7 and 10 and are becoming more independent by the day. Luckily, they still want to spend time with us so we are planning lots of family fun. Marvellous May

Has your May been marvellous or has it been manic? Maybe it can be marvellous and manic simultaneously? I attended a great talk last week at The Inspire Network meeting in Hexham. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all! It’s been a busy January so far with lots of teaching which has been great fun. I was teaching the topic of ‘Castles and Legends’. Naturally I had to incorporate some children’s cookery into it so we made ‘Eggscalibread’ – get it??! (the kids didn’t!). Obviously a knight’s favourite… Read More

‘Tis the Season to be Jolly…

Well, the festive season is definitely in full swing. I’ve been busy making Christmas choccies, from funky -coloured cars to Christmas kisses, festive shortbreads, cake pops, hot choccie stirring spoons and gingerbread tree decorations.   I haven’t come across a child yet who has not enjoyed decorating a gingerbread for the tree (although I don’t think many have reached… Read More

Fairy Garden Pots

What better way to spend a sunny morning in the North East (Northumbria) than making Fairy Garden Pots! The children spent 2 hours designing and making their fairy/elf/pixie gardens. Great planning, design skills and teamwork from everyone. Aren’t they gorgeous!
