Take a look at what my happy customers have to say!
Summer berry celebration cake
This cake is perfect for the summer as it is jam packed with summer berries. I chose to use fresh strawberries and raspberries. My client was delighted, as was her son who asked her if he could have the same cake for his birthday!
Here are her kind words:
“Beautifully presented three tiered Victoria sponge with fresh red berries and piped cream. Absolutely delicious, light sponge, sweet fruit and very tasty cream. Baker Be indeed! Gorgeous! More please!”
Chocolate celebration cake
Adelle asked me to make her a chocolate birthday cake for her party. She asked for it to be decorated with chocolate shards. She was really pleased with her cake. Here are her kind words:
Just to say thank you so much for the cake! It was epic. So delicious with plenty to go round.”
It’s always great to get lovely feedback from customers.
No 28 Hexham Community Partnership – adult cookery workshops
I recently delivered 4 ‘Savvy Shopping and Clever Cooking’ workshops to some ladies at No 28 Hexham Community Partnership. During these workshops the ladies cooked various dishes from scratch. These dishes were extremely economical and ideal for feeding the family. They learnt new cookery schools and hints and tips along the way eg about safe freezing of foods, using alternative ingredients.
This is what Claire Heaviside had to say following the workshops:
“Thanks Be for delivering 4 fantastic clever cooking and savvy shopping sessions for our residents at the No.28 Community Project in Hexham. The women really enjoyed learning how to make a variety of meals from a couple of ingredients, how to use fresh herbs from our community garden and how to freeze food, including leftovers. They are hungry for more!”
Salted caramel popcorn cake
Louise asked me to make her daughter a cake for her birthday. Louise sent me this lovely message the following day:
“Your cake was absolutely divine and it looked fabulous too. The candles looked so pretty through the translucent toffee shards. Thank you xxx”
A day of food discovery and cooking at Bullion Lane Primary ‘summer school’
I was asked by Sara to create a day based around learning about food and hands-on cookery for children attending her summer school. We started the day with my Discover, Design, Devour workshop. In the afternoon we made ‘Berry good’ buns (bun cakes packed full of red fruits) and soda bread which got the children weighing ingredients, practicing kitchen skills and team work. They all got to take home their bakes at the end of the day with recipe cards so they could make the recipes again at home.
Read what Sara had to say about the day:
“The workshop was brilliant and both the children and ourselves enjoyed it; thank you!
I particularly liked the way in which the day was structured as there was lots of variety in the activities you offered which meant the children’s attention was kept at all times.
The session you did with the giant globe was really good, very interactive and was a great opener as it got all the children involved and thinking.
The array of food you brought for the sandwich building session was very impressive, meaning there was something for all the children and even allowed some of them to try something new!
The whole day was really positive and I will definitely keep you in mind for future sessions should the need arise.
Thanks again, we all had a great day!”
Whitley Chapel C of E First School
The children and staff of Whitley Chapel C of E First School attended a joint Baker Be & Crackers Soft Play school visit day focusing on exercise and healthy eating. Here is what they had to say:
“The workshops delivered by you today were completely in line with our current Science topic of Being Healthy. The combination of Discover, Design and Devour was a great one and gave me a great chance to assess their understanding of the topic so far. They thoroughly enjoyed the “design and build” and then eat! The geography lesson was spot on and the tasting brought out the best in the children (with the school cook carefully noting the popularity of the oat cakes!). It was a relaxed chance to enjoy being with the children instead of leading them myself.
Thank you for a great time and the enjoyment of visiting the Healthy Eating part of our topic in such a practical way.
On our return to school, we checked our plans for a balanced plate of food and made models of their planned “balanced Meal” so they’ve had a day of total immersion in Food!
The choice of ingredients was excellent and I really appreciated the extent of the preparation that you put in.
Fantastic party! My daughter and all her friends loved it. We opted for a pirate themed party and the activities that Be came up with were fab. The children loved taking home their wonderful creations. A definite must for your little ones party!
I cannot thank you enough for making my daughter’s 6th birthday so special.
My daughter had a Baker Be Fairy party for her 6th birthday with seven of her friends. Be was fantastic. She engaged all the children from start to finish. The children created some fantastic treats and were really empowered being allowed to take complete control of their creations. I would thoroughly recommend Be and will definitely book again. She even cleaned up all the mess after!
‘Polar Express’ themed children’s tea
Be provided us with a professional service from start to finish. She accommodated all our needs and created a themed ‘Polar Express’ tea, including dietary requirements. We would definitely book again, as would our children! Thank you so much!
Humshaugh C of E First School
The children at Humshaugh First School had an absolutely fantastic day with Baker Be and her ‘real life’ Australian Dad, Bill. Even the sun shone to make us feel transported to the Land Down Under!
While Bill taught traditional Australian songs and was interviewed by Years 2,3 and 4, Reception and Year 1 children learnt about the history of Anzac day by baking and decorating Anzac biscuits. Bill then entertained the younger children with stories of life in Australia and the history of the flag while the older children got their hands sticky making Lamingtons…delicious!!
The afternoon brought everyone together to make Damper bread and to ‘throw some snags on the barbie’. The grand finale was the all important ‘tasting’ session and a traditional Aussie story read by Be.
It was a jam packed day of well planned, fully resourced, fun, educational activities with curriculum links such as Numeracy, Literacy, Music, Geography and History. Be and Bill were enthusiastic, full of positive praise and encouragement and ensured that all the children got the very best out of the day.
Thank you Baker Be and Bill, we look forward to having you visit our school again.
